About the role
We are looking for an experienced Head of IT to kickstart and oversee Budbees’ IT department. The Head of IT will be in charge of creating a team consisting of IT Technicians, System Admins, Network Administrators, etc. You will manage the company’s technology operations, procurement, and the implementation of IT systems, policies, and procedures. You will be involved in our IT infrastructure for our Terminals, working closely with the Tech and Operations departments to maintain the plethora of networking and server equipment needed to operate the sorting machines, local network, and site-to-site connectivity. Additionally, we currently are fielding a fleet of over 5,000 IoT devices across our various physical locations in the EU, and we have a wide range of infrastructure/devices ranging from cloud to on-premise.

As Budbee operates in multiple countries in the EU, you will be responsible for ensuring we are able to meet the IT needs of our various office locations and terminals. Travel to these locations will be expected as part of the role to ensure that local operations are properly on-boarded onto the IT procedures and requirements we define in our ISO compliance.

You will be working closely with the CTO, VP of Engineering, Head of People & Culture, Legal Counsel, and our Head of Ground Operations to get the IT Department bootstrapped.

Stack/Technology

• Managed networking with Unifi

• IoT devices such as Intel NUC, Raspberry Pi, connected sensors (cameras, LIDAR, weight, etc.), status/display screens, etc.

• On-prem servers at our Terminals, and cloud environments hosted in AWS

• Linux/Windows/MacOS workstations & Android/iOS devices

About you
You have excellent knowledge in the IT space, computer systems, networking, and general hardware. You have a solid technical background coupled with strong people and leadership skills. You are experienced in creating and implementing a global IT team, as well as setting up modern & secure policies and processes in-line with compliance requirements of ISO-27001, SOC-2 Type 2, and GDPR.

First days at Budbee

Your very first set of tasks are going to be focused on creating the IT department:

• Familiarize yourself with the existing Budbee infrastructure and topology

• Familiarize yourself with the current and future needs of Budbee

• Work with CTO to set up a budget for staff, office equipment, and hardware for the Terminals

• Work with Talent Acquisition to put up job ads and start recruiting for additional IT roles needed to support the needs of the organization

Desired skills

• 4+ years heading up an IT department (ex: Head of IT, IT Director, or similar)

• 4+ years managing and recruiting employees

• Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications

• Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.

• Experience in creating/managing an IT budget

• Excellent organizational and leadership skills

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English

• Work from Sweden/Stockholm
